LOVE YOUR BODY
How many of you are satisfied with your body? An estimated 80% of women aren't. Hollywood has done a great job of distorting our ideas of how we should look, and what shape we should be. They've created a very distorted image of the "perfect woman". Take a minute to watch this video made by the Dove Self Esteem Fund. I love the Dove mission: to make women feel more beautiful every day by challenging today’s stereotypical view of beauty and inspiring women to take great care of themselves. To learn more about this AWESOME campaign, read this.
Your body, shape, size, and color are what make you unique. Let's stop focusing on what we CAN'T change, and more on what we CAN! We all have the power to take care of what we've been given, and to love who we are...whatever shape and size that may be!
I'm learning to embrace my skin tone (mostly white with an occasional short-lived tan with lots of freckles and moles from years of trying to be darker), my blonde eyelashes (you'll never see me without mascara), my post-pregnancy body (which I'm slowly, but surely trying to get back into it's natural PEAR shape). What kinds of unchangeable things do you embrace about yourself? And what small, attainable goals are you setting for the things you can change?

Thanks for posting this video. I think it does a great job illustrating just how unrealistic our vision of beauty can be. Way to go Dove for taking a different approach.
What a great post! You should be the spokesperson for Dove!
Dudes, if I can look like the chick in the blue tank top, I'll do anything you say!! Sign me up for a dose of whatever she's taking!!
I too am learning to embrace my pale, pasty white skin tone! Thank goodness for Hawaiian Tropic Island Radiance Self Tanner, it gives me color when I can't stand the pastiness any longer! I refuse to tan for several reasons...cancer, wrinkles, freckles, and it's a waist of time:)
Loved the Dove video...very cool!
In high school I used to do thousands of calf raises because I hated my flat, skinny calfs. I wanted that little ball of muscle a lot of girls had. Never happened! Nowadays I wish my butt wasn't flat and my tummy wasn't as jiggly but oh well. I guess it just reminds me how lucky I was my body gave me two beautiful children.
xThis video made me cry. I've been saying it for a long time now, and trying to aply it to myself. Big is beautiful, little is beautiful, the with-boobs or no-boobs look is beautiful, and I am beautiful. It's taken years, but I'm starting to feel different inside. I like me. I post my pictures and don't edit them out anymore. I want others to feel the same. I believe in being fit, not skinny. Here I am saying that and I am skinny-so? Don't none of us "adult" women look good without our make-up on. Sometimes I intentionally go without make-up to church, or someplace public just to remind myself that it doesn't matter. It's not what's important. I say to myself "let them see me without my make-up, the look of the un-dead upon my brow. It's not who I am, it's just my face. Plus, I'm not trying to make-out with any of them anyway so what does it really matter?" Then I go, and soon I forget that I didn't put my make-up on. Occasionally I'm reminded though, when someone puts their hand on my shoulder in ernest, looks me in the eye, and askes me if I'm feeling all-right. He he he. :) This was a good post. Thanks guys.
This video is really amazing. You always know that they have touched models up but it is really neat to see exactly how. It is intresting to see them lengthen her neck and make her eyes bigger. While hair and makeup can be changed obviously those things can't so you are right, we should stop worrying about what can't be changed! Thanks for posting this.
